Whats up with the name??

Once i heard 'Upside Down Pickle in a Jar' as a metaphor for a baby in a womb, and thought it was pretty fitting for our blog. This is for all the family and friends that Ben and I unfortunately dont get to speak to often. You can feel like you are here in all the action!

I WANT TO SLEEP

Well, tomorrow marks 6 weeks. Nothing's really changed except I want to sleep. ALL THE TIME. I got so weepy and angry last night at Ben because he was telling me goodnight then giving me a hug and then telling jasper (who was laying with me) goodnight and then telling baby stegall goodnight. I eventually started crying and said, "I WANT TO SLEEP! GO AWAY!"  I know it sounds mean, but it was said in a funny way..... lol
The other day after a horrible trip to Chuck-E-Cheese with my daycare kids, I fell asleep at my parents house for two hours on thier guest bed and they didnt even wake me, thank goodness.
I have been looking into birthing options, such as:
-Midwife or Doctor
-Hospital Birth or Homebirth (kidding)
-Birthing positions-squatting is winning so far. TMI? oh well.
-Who I want in the birthing room

I am thinking midwife and since Ben works with them, he highly suggests one at Shaw Center. So, we'll see. I know I just dont want to be giving birth and the midwife say, "ok, reach down and grab your baby!" uh uh.

I went to Hobby Lobby with Ashley today and we perused the store, and we passed some large Christmas ornaments and we tried to compare them to baby head sizes. Some freaky stuff right there.
Speaking of friends, my dear friend Shannon is coming over for dinner tomorrow night. Just us two, And I am so excited. Shes one of those friends who asks questions about things you havent thought of before. and since theres lots to discuss, I'm sure I will have another post tommorrow night.

In the Beginning...

We are ecstatic, and I think i can say the same for everyone else we know!
Ben and I are fortunate to have support from both of our families, and a large group of friends. Lets just say, this is going to be one SPOILED child.
This past Friday, July 15th, 2011, marked 5 weeks. We found out saturday, and I had bloodwork on Monday (positive blood pregnancy test) and Wednesday (HGC levels had risen appropriately). So on Wednesday,  August 17th I will have my first prenatal appointment. At that time I will be 9 weeks and 5 days, so we bought prenatal vitamins, and I started changing my diet until the Dr. tells me exactly what he wants me to do. I have my own personal dietitian, my good friend (aunt) Rebecca. :)
Right now the only thing I can tell a difference in is my sleep patterns. I feel more sleepy than usual, but thats normal. Not really any difference in urinating or sickness (unless I get too hot). We cancelled our gym memberships, which is saving us $50 a month. We have an eliptical at home and a great walking path around Cherokee Lake for when the weather gets cooler.  I am really appreciative that i dont have to be hugely pregnant in the Summer, thank goodness.

I will try to update this at least every week if not more than that, ecspecially for those of you that live out of town and wanna be in the loop!
